Washing Things with Petrol

Today was a maintenance day in preparation for the next trip to Portugal. The generator needed an oil change and the chainsaws were caked in a combination of sawdust and oily hydrocarbons.

Happily, hydrocarbons – while often sticky and gunky – are easily removed with more hydrocarbons! We therefore soaked the dirtiest easily removable components in a light bath of old petrol we had lying around.

We also gave the chains a good sharpening. The result is two rather clean chainsaws ready to go.

Joan the generator also had her first oil change. She feels much fresher now, as you can clearly see...

That's all for now!
